Spirits Rejoice: Jazz on the Vineyard

Spirits Rejoice: Jazz on the Vineyard

Dear Friends,

The United Church of Christ, in collaboration with Howard University alumni, invite you to join us for "Spirits Rejoice: Jazz on the Vineyard" at 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 23, 2012, at Union Chapel in Oak Bluffs.

The Dwight Andrews Quartet with vocalist Kathleen Bertrand will offer a soul-filled evening of classic jazz to benefit The Rev. Joseph H. Evans Pastoral Scholarship Fund and honor his legacy and memory.

As his many friends and neighbors on Martha's Vineyard know, Joseph Evans served as the first African-American President of the United Church of Christ. He was an advocate for racial justice and a mentor to African-American leaders in the church and beyond.

The Rev. Dr. Dwight Andrews is a composer, performing artist and educator, and is himself the Senior Minister of the First Congregational Church UCC in Atlanta, Ga.

Your support for Evans Scholars is an investment in leadership for the church and communities everywhere. Join us for "Spirits Rejoice: Jazz on the Vineyard."

General admission tickets are $25 each ($15 tax deductible). Reserved seating, front and center, are $75 for a pair of tickets ($60 tax deductible).  Tickets are available online (see below) and will be available at the door beginning at 5:30 PM the day of the concert.

Sincerely,

Carol A. Brown, Chair
